About the Choirs:
Sherwood Community Chamber Choir (SCCC): Founded in 2014 by William Evans, SCCC is a volunteer auditioned choir of about 60 singers. Evans, who taught choral music at Sherwood High School for 37 years, leads the choir, supported by Kenny Phillips, Assistant Music Director. The choir’s mission is to enrich the community and its members through choral singing and concerts.
Vocal Accord (formerly SCCE): Established in 2022, the Chamber Ensemble consists of 12 members of the Chamber Choir and focuses on a small ensemble choral music repertoire.
Olney Community Youth Choir (OCYC): OCYC was founded in 2022 with the goal of filling the need for singing opportunities for students in grades 4–8 in the Olney area. The choir consists of two groups: Cavatina (grades 4–6) and Crescendo (grades 6–8). Cavatina is directed by Ashley Grantham, a music educator and Sherwood HS graduate. Crescendo is directed by Sidney Clarke-Lequerique, choral director at Richard Montgomery High School. OCYC is supported by Assistant Director/Collaborative Accompanist Michele Rohan and Choral Manager Zoe Bullit.
Sherwood High School Chamber Singers: The SHS Chamber Singers are led by director Emily Chu. This auditioned choir meets in class daily, and their repertoire consists of chamber and global musical pieces.
